Scheduling

This quiz is a walkthrough of the scheduling system. There are no wrong answers.

By the end, you will have scheduled a one-on-one with an instructor and learned how to reserve machine time.


Context:

In our open-shop format, scheduling helps you make the most of your time:

  • The instructor is available whenever the shop is open, except while meeting with another student.

    For everyone's convenience, booking a meeting slot is greatly appreciated.

  • You will reserve a machine to practice skills and work on projects.

    Scheduling a machine guarantees you use of that machine.

Access Bookings

  1. Go to the Course Home Page – opens in new tab
  2. Locate the Welcome to Manual Machining section
  3. Select the link in item 4: Scheduling Machine-Time & Coaching
    • More information about scheduling on that page.
    • In future, you may also select one of the direct links at the bottom of the Time Management section, which will open Bookings directly.
  4. Review the information and select the link to the bookings page you need.

    Select "Instructor Meeting" this time. This will open an MS Bookings page in a new tab.

Make an Appointment

  1. In the drop down labeled "Select Staff" select your instructor: Jacen Johnson.
    —If you leave this set to "Anyone" you might schedule with a different instructor!
  2. Select a day and time this week (week 1 of the quarter) to meet with an instructor.
  3. Fill out the form with your name and student email address.

    There is also a box for Guest email(s) which you can use to include other students if you want to meet as a group.

  4. In the Purpose of the Meeting drop down, select whichever option makes the most sense.

    This is just included as a heads up for your instructor.

  5. In the Tell us more box, please add a few specifics to help your instructor prepare.
  6. Click the Book button.

Add it to Your Canvas Calendar

You will need to manually add the appointment to your Canvas calendar as a reminder.

  1. Return to Canvas and navigate to your calendar.
  2. Click on the day of your appointment and add the details

You will receive a confirmation email from MS Bookings with the details of your appointment. Save these emails: it includes a link that will allow you to cancel or modify your appointment.


You may also choose to use the calender associated with your student email. Whatever works best for you.
